KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders close to the party President Sushil Koirala have stepped up internal discussions to resolve the differences over the dissolution of the party´s various sister wings.

A secret meeting held at the residence of NC leader Ananda Prasad Dhungana in Katunje on Wednesday decided to do the necessary homework for reconstituting the party´s sister organizations in a way that would be acceptable to the rival faction led by Sher Bahadur Deuba. [break]

The leaders have decided to continue the discussions to arrive at a workable solution before Koirala comes back to the capital after his two-day visit to Nepalgunj beginning Thursday.

Over one dozen leaders, including General Secretary Prakash Man Singh, had reached to Dhungana´s residence to hold the informal discussion. “We held informal discussions on the issue. But there has not been any decision yet,” said NC leader Bal Bahadur KC.

Sources said the leaders are planning to bring a proposal to settle the issue in the upcoming NC Central Working Committee meeting.

The differences between Koirala and Deuba had grown after Koirala, through a CWC meeting on September 20, decided not to extend the term of various sister organizations including Nepal Students´ Union, Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Women´s Association, Nepal Farmers´ Association and Democratic Fighters Association after his attempt to settle the issue with Deuba failed to yield any results.
