KATHMANDU, April 2: The Nepali Congress (NC) is holding meetings of its Parliamentary Board and Executive Committee today to finalize the candidates for the by-elections to be held on April 27.
The Parliamentary Board meeting is scheduled to take place at 2PM and the Executive Committee meeting at 3PM at the residence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba at Budhanilkantha. The decision made by the Parliamentary Board meeting will be approved by the executive committee meeting.

The by-elections are slated for April 27 to fill vacant positions in Ilam Constituency-2 for the House of Representatives and Bajhang Constituency-1 (1) for the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly. These by-elections were necessitated by the demise of UML lawmaker Subas Nembang in Ilam and the former provincial Home Affairs and Law Minister Prithvi Bahadur Singh in Bajhang.
While the CPN-UML and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RAP) have already announced their candidates and commenced campaigning, the NC is yet to finalize its candidates.
NC Koshi Province has recommended the names of Bhesh Raj Acharya, Dambar Bahadur Khadka, Keshab Thapa, Nagendra Kumar, Ramesh Lingden, Chandramaya Limbu and Shantikala Tamang to the Center for Ilam Constituency-2.
Similarly, the NC has recommended Abhishek Singh, Satyaraj Bhandari, Bishnu Kumar Singh, Jagat Prasad Joshi, Nanda Krishna Joshi, Lokendra Bahadur Rokaya, Shantikumari Bohra, Arjun Syedan, Dhurba Raj Upadhyay and Narayan Hamal for Bajhang. Abhishek Singh is the son of the then Home Affairs and Law Minister Prithvi Bahadur Singh who died in a car accident.
