KATHMANDU, June 9: Nepali Congress (NC) has failed to convince the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to help end the ongoing parliamentary deadlock. While the CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and CPN (Unified Socialist) have mostly agreed to resume the House, RSP has not backed the plan.
NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire held talks with RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar and other leaders, but the discussions ended without an agreement.

Earlier, NC had proposed to support the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority in its probe into the visa scam. It also suggested forming a committee to study immigration problems and recommend reforms. Maoist Center, RPP, and Unified Socialist agreed to the proposal, but RSP did not.
Due to the lack of consensus, Monday’s House meeting still remains uncertain.
