Party’s Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting held at Singhadurbar urged the government to investigate the death of the lawmaker who was active in collecting public opinion.
The meeting also condemned planned attacks of the ruling Maoist on independent judiciary and pre press. “The Maoist-led government has been creating an atmosphere of fear by continuing planned attacks on judiciary and press one after another,” said party’s whip in the parliament, Shobhakhar Parajuli. “The meeting urged the Maoists to stop such activities.”
Party president Girija Prasad Koirala who was briefly present at the meeting asked party’s lawmakers to make their strong and effective presence in the upcoming parliament meeting. He instructed the lawmakers to accomplish their task of a responsible opposition in the house by raising the problems facing the country.
The meeting also condoled the led death of party´s former general secretary Shribhadra Sharma, Sardar, former minister Maheshwar Prasad Singh and CA secretariat staff Nem Lal Shakya.
The meeting also discussed the issue of electing its PP leader. Some leaders closed to party president Girija Prasad Koirala suggested for setting up a committee to select parliamentary party leader and deputy leader. But because of protest by some members, the idea was dropped.
