KATHMANDU, March 13: The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, criticized Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane during the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday. During Wednesday's session, the NC requested the Speaker for an opportunity to address the assembly.

NC Whip Sushila Thing was granted the time to speak to express her party's concerns, wherein she levied criticisms against the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.

Thing raised objections to the Prime Minister's appointment of a controversial individual as a minister. She remarked, "How can the Prime Minister appoint a minister with a tainted past? By appointing someone implicated in cooperative fraud, currently under investigation by the Pokhara Metropolitan City, as the Home Minister, he has stirred significant controversy."

She criticized the Prime Minister for appointing Lamichhane as the Home Minister, highlighting inconsistencies with legal procedures, particularly cases of conflict of interest.

She questioned, "Will the Nepal government's police force offer allegiance to the home minister and act under his direction in such cases? Will the Prime Minister address this issue?"

She also cautioned against assuming that the House proceedings would run smoothly, alleging the involvement of the entire secretariat of former vice president Nanda Bahadur Pun in gold smuggling.
