KATHMANDU, Dec 13: A total of 878 votes have been cast so far in the ongoing voting process of the Nepali Congress (NC)’s 14th General Convention till 3 PM. The voting process began at 12PM today.
There are a total of 487 candidates vying for 132 posts of NC. The voting process is being held at Bhrikutimandap and at the National Assembly Building.
NC 14th General Convention: 380 votes cast till 1:30 PM
According to the party’s Central Election Committee, as many as 343 votes have been cast so far in the polling booth at the National Assembly, while 535 votes have been cast at the two polling booths in Bhrikutimandap. The Election Committee has made provision to cast 3,400 votes at the ballot stations in Bhrikutimandap and 1,300 votes at the National Assembly. The estimated time for one representative to vote has taken almost half an hour.
As per the statute of NC, election is held for 134 posts of the 167-member central working committee while the elected party president will have right to nominate the remaining 33 CWC members including a treasurer.
