NATTA holding election for new executive election on Friday

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) is holding its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election for a new executive committee on Friday.
Two panels led by incumbent 1st vice president C N Pandey and 2nd vice president D K Sharma are contesting the election. 

According to Ram Barakoti, executive member of NATTA, Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Sangita Jirel, Vinay Basnet, Sabita KC Bhattarai, Ram Shrestha and Yuvraj Subedi have filed their nomination for the post of first vice president, second vice president, general secretary, secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer, respectively. Likewise, Amrit Kumar Dhakal, Rabi Thapa, Raghu Pariyar, Santosh Chhetri, DP Aryal (Hari), Benju Shrestha (Mukhiya), Gita Dhakal and Binod Karki are the candidates for executive member from Sharma's executive committee.

Similarly, Pandey panel has fielded Achyut Guragain, Sunil Sharma, Ramesh Thapa, Hari Bhakta Shrestha, Rajkumar Thapa and Surendra Bhattarai for the post of vice president, second vice president, general secretary, secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer, respectively. Ien Thapa, Kumar Thapaliya, Raju Dhakal, Phuri Sherpa, Sudarshan Nepal, Ramesh Poudel, Devaki Gurung and Romi Shrestha are the candidates for executive member from Pandey's panel.

Though travel agents and tour operators have made effort to elect the new leadership unopposed, it was not possible after Sharma panel filed nomination 'to end the trend of syndicate to elect leadership'. “I am contesting the election of NATTA to end politicization in NATTA,” Sharma told Republica.
