At a meeting held at Koirala residence, Maharajgunj, on Friday morning, the two leaders agreed to form a national government by settling contentious issues by mid-October.[break]
The top leaders of the two big parties had built an understanding to move ahead by forging consensus on constitution, electoral process and formation of a new government.
Talking to journalists after the meeting, Chairperson Dahal said that both the sides are positive to form a national consensus government by mid-October.
´Meeting with the NC President Koirala was positive´, he said, adding that they are serious to resolve the problems facing in the country and the initiation of dialogue among the top leaders would hopefully lead the country to consensus thereby resolving problems.
NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel commented that the talks with the UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson were positive. ´Serious consultation held between the two parties to give outlet to the country´, he added.
The meeting is considered to be an important event to guide the Nepali politics to a positive course. The parties, which committed to find consensus point to bail the country out of crisis following pressure from President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, had not shown any activism to that end till a couple of days back.
