LALITPUR, Sept 7: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Prakash Sharan Mahat on Wednesday said that national interest and unity should be the bases for Nepal’s foreign policy.
Speaking at an interaction organized by Nepal Council of World Affairs, Minister Mahat said that national interest should guide the country’s foreign policy no matter the changes in the government.
He further said that a country like Nepal should develop strong bilateral ties with the neighboring countries.
When asked about the upcoming India visit by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Minister Mahat said, “A single visit will not sort out the issues between the two countries. There is a need of frequent meetings at different levels.”
According to him, the visit might further develop the relation between the two neighboring countries.
