KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Bidya Gurung has been elected Chairperson of the Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA).
The 34th conference of NASeA, held in Atlanta, United States, elected Gurung to the post for a four-year term.
Women Forum launched
Nepalese residing in Georgia, Seattle, Chicago, Colorado, Maryland, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Florida, and Washington, D.C., participated in the conference.
The organization has elected a woman chairperson for the first time in its 30-year history. Gurung previously served as a board director of the organization for two terms and as head of its women’s committee. She has been actively contributing to the welfare and rights of the Nepali community, as well as promoting Nepali art and culture, for the past 25 years.
Similarly, Dr. Dilip Panthi (North Carolina) is the Executive Vice-Chair, while Pranaya Lama and Sikshya Gautam (Georgia), Bimala Adhikari, and Puran Raj Khatiwada have been elected as Vice-Chair, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively.
Rajendra Neupane (South Carolina), Subas Pokhrel (Maryland), Dr. Shankar Parajuli (Massachusetts), Hom Lamsal (North Carolina), Kalpana Bhattarai (Georgia), Kusum Baral (South Carolina), Guru Prasad Dhungel (South Carolina), Rama Pahari (Florida), Rubi Baral (Georgia), Pratibha Khadka (Virginia), Abhiraj Rajbanshi (South Carolina), Nishant Aryal (Georgia), Nay Narayan Shah (Louisiana), Sangita Malla, and Parbati Timalsina (North Carolina) were elected unopposed as members.
