NAWALPARASI, July 3: The second-time extended deadline for the completion of Narayanghat-Butwal road widening project is expiring on July 23.
The road expansion work was initiated after entering into an agreement in 2019. In the meantime, the deadline of the project has been extended twice.
Information Officer for the project, engineer Shiva Khanal informed RSS that 52 percent works have been so far completed in the Nawalparasi eastern section.

The eastern section of the project covers 65 kilometers from Gaindakot-based Narayani Bridge to Daunne. Information Officer Khanal shared that the blacktopping of 44-km out of 130-km of both sides of the projected four-lane road has been completed.
"One can now travel on the 27-km one-way blacktopped road along the section. The base is ready for blacktopping on the 6.6-km road," he shared.
Project chief of the eastern section of the Road Expansion Project, Ashish Thapa Magar said the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which was awarded the contract for the construction, has planned to blacktop the road although it has not advanced any additional work during the current deadline.
