KATHMANDU, June 25: The world´s cheapest car Nano, which was said to hit Nepali roads three months before, will finally arrive in the Nepali market within a month.

Sundaram Raghunathan, regional chief of Tata motors for South and West Asia, said the car will be shipped to Nepali market after increasing the production capacity at Gujarat-based factory. He said high demand in India was the reason behind the delay. [break]

“Very soon we are increasing the existing production capacity of Nano from 150 units to 330 units a day. This will help us address the demand for Nano in Nepali market,” he added.

Shyam Prasad Dahal, CEO of Sipradi Trading, said they had started the procedures to import Nano in March. “But it couldn´t materialize then. Nano will arrive in the Nepali market by the end of July,” he added.

Sipradi will introduce five Nano cars for test drive within July.

“Nano will be launched commercially after it is tested in Nepali roads,” Dahal added.

Raghunathan said Nano would be made available for sale only after September. “We have planned to make Nepal the first international market for the car. Nano will be exported first in Nepal,” Raghunathan added.

Dahal said Nano will be a bit expensive in the Nepali market due to customs duty.
