Nagdhunga-Naubise tunnel construction sees 27 percent work progress

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: Around 27 percent construction work of Nagdhunga-Naubise tunnel road has been completed.


According to Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project, it has spent 37 percent of the allocated budget. As of now, a main tunnel of length 736 meter has been constructed.

Out of the 2,688 meter long tunnel, 372 m has been dug in the eastern side and 364 m has been dug in the west. Similarly, of the evacuation tunnel of 2,557 m, the project has completed its work on the stretch of 1,276 m.


Likewise, construction of two underpasses, four box culverts and two bridges have been constructed. A total of 73.5 percent construction of the access road has been completed. The project is looking to acquire land necessary for construction of a flyover.        


The project is being developed with a total investment of Rs 22 billion. The Japanese government is providing Rs 16 billion in loan assistance while the government is investing the remaining Rs 6 billion.
