Nagarik editor-in-chief Luitel to receive Govinda Biyogi Journalism Award

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Editors' Society Nepal on Monday announced to award the editor-in-chief of the Nagarik Daily Gunaraj Luitel with the Govinda Biyogi Journalism Award. 

A meeting of the society held in the capital on Sunday decided to honor Luitel. The prize carries a purse of Rs 25,001. Similarly, the Society decided to award editor of Sagarmatha TV Prakash Giri Govinda Biyogi Special Journalism Award. Giri will receive Rs 15,001 as prize money, according to the General Secretary of the Society Shyam Dotel. 

Similarly, senior journalist and diplomat Hiranyalal Shrestha, senior journalist duo Madhav Kumar Rimal and Jay Prasad Dahal will be conferred Editors' Society Felicitation. 

A selection team headed by Parashu Ghimire had earlier proposed the names of recipients. The team comprised Hari Lamsal and Madhav Dulal. 

The Society also decided to confer the awards on January 18, Saturday on the occasion of the 14th death anniversary of Late Govinda Biyogi amid a special function.
