KATHMANDU, May 20: The Nepali Army conducted 'kshyama pooja' or atonement worship with special rituals on Wednesday wishing for peace, happiness, prosperity and betterment of the entire country and people at a time when the devastating earthquake has pushed the country into an adverse situation.
Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shamser JB Rana performed the pooja with established rituals at the Ripumardani Bhagawati Temple based in the NA Headquarters, Bhadrakali Plaza. The pooja was performed in all NA bodies (brigades, battalions and companies) across the country simultaneously this morning.
On the occasion, prayers were held, wishing for eternal peace to those losing lives to the calamity, speedy recovery of those left injured and restoration of peace and prosperity in the country, the NA said.
Besides, special hawan (offering to the fire) and pooja were also performed on the occasion with the participation of NA priests and priests of other security bodies and general priests. The NA has planned to distribute Prasad to the common people from Tundikhel based army pavilion in the afternoon, NA Spokesperson Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel said. RSS
