NA Corporal committed suicide due to ‘torture in custody’

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: It has been suspected that a Nepal Army (NA) Corporal Dipak Bahadur Khadka committed suicide due to the ‘unbearable pressure and torture’ inflicted on him during an internal investigation by NA over missing weapons.

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: It has been suspected that a Nepal Army (NA) Corporal Dipak Bahadur Khadka committed suicide due to the ‘unbearable pressure and torture’ inflicted on him during an internal investigation by NA over missing weapons.


According to sources, Khadka, in his suicide note has mentioned that he killed himself ‘due to the torture and pressure during the investigation’. “The suspect was tortured physically and mentally daily,” sources claimed.

NA had begun investigation over the weapons that went missing from a NA Brigade in Far Western Region. Khadka shot himself to death while the investigation process was underway.


A police team had reached Dipayal for the investigation following the suicide. The missing weapons were found at gate no 2 of the Brigade on September 23. Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Hemanta Malla confirmed that a police team has left for Dipayal from Kathmandu. “We have sent a team of police officers to Dipayal,” he said, “Details of the investigation were awaited.”


NA Spokesperson Tara Bahadur Karki told Republica Online that he was unaware about the new developments as Nepal Police started investigation following the suicide. When asked about the suicide note, he said that police was investigating the case. “We are unknown as the police is carrying out the investigation,” he said.
