Tara Samal, 18, of Rauta-9, who went for a hangout with her other two friends after Thursday's exam died 'falling off' the overhead water-tank, SP Tek Bahadur Gurung, District Police Chief, Udayapur, quoted Sabina, Tara's friend, as saying.
According to SP Gurung, SLC examinees Tara Samal, Sabina Tamang and Milan Shrestha, went out for fun after taking Thursday's exam. After snacks (locally fomented beer and sukuti) at Jaljale Bazaar, they had headed to Trinapa 7 to watch under-construction overhead water-tank, around six kilometers east of Triyuga Municipality-13.
A preliminary investigation shows that when they reached Chapa, location of the under-construction water-tank, Milan called his friend Rabin (whose surname is yet to be ascertained) through mobile.
After his arrival, two couples Sabina and Rabin climbed up the steps to view the water-tank being constructed at the height of 50 meters while Tara and Milan stayed on the ground.
According to Sabina's statement, when Rabin Sabina did not climb down even after the evening fell, Tara climbed up the steps to call them down. By the time Tara reached the water-tank calling them, Sabina and Rabin could hear her voice from within the water-tank, sans water as it was under-construction. When they came out, they did not see Tara there.
Then they climbed down the steps just to see Tara falling on the ground with a deep cut on her right head and her right-hand fractured.
Seriously injured Tara breathed her last while being rushed to Udayapur hospital.
Police are launching investigation into the case after taking Milan and Sabina under control while Rabin is still at large.
