KATHMANDU, March 16: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that his move to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) is gradually being justified amid the latest political developments.
Oli, who was speaking at a tea-reception organized by a faction of the ruling CPN (UML) close to him, said that a series of political events of late are now gradually justifying his December 20-move to dissolve the House.
All except Oli faction against dissolution of parliament
“The Supreme Court reinstated parliament. However, a series of events are now enough to justify that the House dissolution move was the right decision,” said Oli, adding that the rationale behind HoR dissolution would be established in due course of time.
On the occasion, Oli also blamed Speaker Agni Sapkota for not fulfilling his responsibilities for the implementation of the constitution.
The CPN (UML), which was revived through the Supreme Court’s March 7 order, has, however, suffered a vertical split into two factions - one led by Oli himself and the other by party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. The leaders close to the Nepal faction were not present during the reception in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.
The Oli faction has called a central committee meeting on March 20. The rival faction, however, is organizing a national gathering on Wednesday and Thursday.
