KATHMANDU, June 20:  They say music washes away the dust of everyday life from the soul. And on June 21, the 1905 Restaurant in Kantipath is the place to be, if you have some soul cleansing to do.

All music lovers will be treated to some fine music on the occasion of the ‘International Music Day’. Nepali bands -- Double Trouble, Sareen N’ Prawol, Circus, Urban Gypsy, The Midnight Riders, The Himalayan Connection and Prism will be playing a mix of rock, blues and acoustic.[break]

Mukti Shakya, lead singer of Mukti n’ Revival shared, “This is an international event and I’m glad to be a part of it.

I’m especially looking forward to listening to The Midnight Riders. I’ve heard they’re great! In fact, I can’t wait to get on stage and rock it!”

A part of the organizing team, Diwakar Pandey, CEO of Ournepal.com, describes the event as ‘a joint effort by friends.’ Initially planned as an informal party for friends, it later unexpectedly turned out to be a huge event. “It’s not for charity and we aren’t focused on making profits out of the event.

Just a get together is what it is,” he further informed.

The previous event organized by the team was at the Mahendra Police Club, Exhibition road and was limited to a crowd of 100.

This event however, will welcome anyone who wishes to join in. When inquired about the venue, Deep Shamsher Rana from The Midnight Riders and the event coordinator of the music department said, “Why not 1905? It’s the perfect place! Plus, the best part being that we will not be facing angry neighbors calling the cops for late night concerting!”

The Vocalist and guitarist of the three member band, The Himalayan Connection, Bobin Bajracharya shared, “this event will stand out for me because I had performed on International Music day in 1996 and now after a span of 15 years, I’ll be up again on the same occasion.” The band replaced Mental radio and, will be performing their original songs and playing both roots and rock.

With their newest release on YouTube ‘Anumati,’ Monkey Temple will also be playing their originals and a few songs from other bands, all of alternative rock genre.

“Getting to play for people on International Music day gives you the feeling that all music worshippers will be indulged in something or the other related to music.

It’s a precious feeling,” informed Sareen, band member of Monkey Temple and business development officer at Nepal Music Centre Trust (NMC).

The event is being sponsored by Gorkha Brewy and there will be no cover charges.

The show starting at 6 pm will feature the opening and main act till 10 pm, after which the audience can enjoy informal jam sessions featuring Looza, Mukti n’ Revival, Robin n’ Revolution and Hari Maharjan.

Music lovers don’t miss this rocking musical extravaganza party. After all, they say everyone deserves music!
