KATHMANDU, July 28: Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested a murder-accused 12 years after he committed the crime.
Rajesh Lama, 37, was arrested on the charge of killing Sunita Lama (Tara), 22, in January 2008. Sunita was murdered at Imadol, Lalitpur. She hailed from Makwanpur while Rajesh was from Kavrepalanchowk.
At a press conference today, CIB stated that Rajesh was arrested from Sanepa. CIB head, DIG Niraj Kumar Shahi stated that the two had agreed upon marrying. Rajesh murdered Sunita when he came to know that she was in a relationship with another man.

“The duo was in a relationship 6-7 months prior to the incident. The culprit was afraid of the circumstances he would face if the marriage got canceled. This feeling of insecurity led Rajesh to murder his fiancé. Rajesh came to Sunita’s room and struck her with a knife several times,” added DIG Shahi.
According to SP Deepak Regmi, after the murder, Rajesh fled to Haetauda and changed his identity. He changed his name to Raju and worked at a hotel in Hetauda. Lama later came to the capital and worked as a painter.
Rajesh has been remanded into custody for a week, according to CIB.
