Muktinath temple opens from today

MYAGDI, Sept 26: The famous Muktinath Temple, a holy place of pilgrimage for Hindus and Buddhists in Mustang, has been opened from today.

A meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center and the Security Committee held at the District Administration Office, Mustang on September 21 had decided to open the Muktinath Temple. The temple had been closed since last April.

Chief District Officer Srinath Poudel, who is also the chairman of the Muktinath Development Committee, informed Republica that the temple has been opened for worship. "It has been decided to allow people visiting Muktinath if they are able to produce PCR or antigen test report or COVID-19," he said. "The PCR report produced within seven days is mandatory for foreigners."

Muktinath, located at an altitude of 3,710 meters above sea level, is considered a common pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists.
