MPRF-R discusses future strategy

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Following the imprisonment of the party Chairman Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta over corruption charge, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Republican (MPRF-R) on Thursday began discussions over the party´s future strategy at central committee meeting.



“We have started discussions over our party´s future strategy, including our support to the present government,” said MPRF-R Vice-chairman Rajkishor Yadav. [break]



He stated that the party will come up with a clear view after the central committee meeting that would last for the next couple of days.



Another MPRF-R leader Rajlal Yadav, who is also a minister without portfolio, said that the CC meeting on Thursday denounced the Supreme Court (SC) verdict sending party Chairman Gupta to jail over corruption charge.



“The meeting concluded that the verdict was anti-Madhes,” stated Yadav.



“The leaders said that the party should move ahead strongly by accepting Chairman Gupta´s absence as a challenge,” said a leader on condition of anonymity.



The meeting will continue Friday at MPRF´s central office in Shankhamul, Kathmandu.
