Central member of MPRF-R Sabita Devi Yadav, however, said the issue whether to merge or form an alliance with MPRF-D is yet to be finalized. “It is, however, true that both the parties are working for either merger or unification,” she said.
This development comes at a time when Gachchhadar has intensified his unification campaign with various fringe Madhes-based parties to consolidate his party´s position for the upcoming CA polls. Earlier, Gachchhadar had welcomed several leaders, including officer bearers from Tarai Madhes Democratic Party-Nepal, to his party.
A senior leader of the Mahantha Thakur-led Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) said that his party was also mulling merger with MPRF-D. “We are working for unification with the Gachchhadar-led party for the cause of Madheshi people,” he said. He revealed that talks were under way for the unification with TMDP-Nepal as well.
According to independent political observers, fringe Madhesi-parties are seeking merger under the direct influence of Indian establishment and the Indian embassy in Kathmandu. “I have come to learn that the Indian establishment and Indian embassy in Kathmandu are requesting both Mahantha Thakur and Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar to unify all fringe parties under the leadership of Thakur. But Gachchhadar wants to unify the parties under his own leadership,” said an independent observer, seeking anonymity. He claimed that MPRF-R and Mahendra Rai Yadav-led TMDP-Nepal would merge with Gachchhadar- led MPRF-D.
Sources have claimed that Anil Jha- led Sanghiya Sadbhawana Party and Sarita Giri-led Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Aanandi Devi) is also seeking unification with the Gachchhadar-led party.
Central member of Terai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) Ganesh Nepali has said that his party was preparing for unification with MPRF-D. “We are looking forward to a broader unification with the Gachchhadar-led party for the sake of Madheshi causes,” he said. He argued that the talks were on for unification with Mahendra Ray Yadav-led TMDP, Nepal as well.
Central member of MPRF (R) Sabita Devi Yadav has revealed that her party is closer to MPRF-D. “We are seeking an alliance or unification with Gachchhadar- led MPRF-D,” she said.
Secretary of MPRF (D) Ravindra Thakur said that his party is preparing for unification with Mahanta Thakur -led TMDP. “MPRF-R and Mahanta Thakur-led TMDP will merge with our party under the leadership of Gachchhadar”, he added. Thakur said that the international community also favors unification and alliance of Madhesh-based parties.
