Movie Review: Mission Impossible 5

So, then, Tom Cruise never gets old and he is back with the impossible mission, yet again! From the first MI installment in 1996 till the latest in the series -- Rogue Nation-- Cruise has only gotten younger in terms of energy. And that very energy is evident in the very first few minutes of the movie when he jumps up on a running plane and then hangs on the door, which just about takes off with full speed.

If it was any other movie, people would be like-- what the hell just happened?! But its Tom Cruise and he simply makes such unrealistic tasks easy and doable. He didn't apparently use a body double for that stunt. Now, if you think that was unrealistic, few seconds later he is forced into the moving plane with the rear door open, bangs his head on the metal, dusts himself and rises up, just like that! As if nothing happened at all.

It can be said that the movie is an American version of 'James Bond' franchise, (only that he doesn't go introducing himself as, Hunt, Ethan Hunt) but with high tech gadgets and top notch action-- may be a bit unrealistic for most of the audience, but still 'legit' enough-- Because "Tom Cruise"!

The overall story is pretty good compared to the previous editions. While Ethan Hunt is busy chasing an International Criminal Consortium and an anti IMF group - the Syndicate- led by an ex-MI6 agent-- the CIA director, played by Alec Baldwin, gets on the IMF's back and successfully disbands the force.

The CIA director's new mission is to bring Ethan Hunt back to the States but Hunt is one hard guy to "Hunt". Though technically he is a fugitive on the run and a target of the ever seeing CIA- that very CIA that can supposedly do the unthinkable, has eyes everywhere, and can track faces of moving people- Ethan is, yet, a hard catch- well, because "Ethan Hunt".

It is interesting to watch how 'the fugitive', who is a primary concern for CIA, apparently can travel all over the world sans disguise and not get under the CIA's radar.

The plot is pretty interesting and keeps one engaged, definitely few humorous scenes on the way as well. Ilsa Faurst, played by Rebecca Ferguson, has an intense role, a triple agent or similar, who constantly swings from being a heroine to a villain and back and reverse and so on, multiple times, finally settling down to become a.....well I leave that for you to find.

The man of steel, Ethan Hunt, delivers his best! Tom Cruise seldom underperforms, at least not in MI series. One moment, he drives a motorbike, probably at a speed higher than 120 kmph or so, bangs his knee on the road and just gets away with a facial expression. If that was not all, few minutes later he falls of the same bike while riding at a higher speed, gets up, dusts himself up, with nothing but torn clothes and not even a single scar on his face! Because, for the last time -- "Tom Cruise".

Apart from several 'unbelievable' approaches, the movie is pretty good in overall feature-- worth your time and money.
