SINDHUPALCKOWK, Oct 7: Reconstruction of more than 81,000 earthquake-ravaged houses in Sindhupalchowk district has been completed so far.
Sindhupalchowk was one of the hardest hit districts by the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in April, 2015.
According to the District Project Implementation Unit (DPIU), more than 81,000 human settlements have been reconstructed so far.
1,400 houses reconstructed in Parbat after earthquake
Santosh Niroula, Chief of the Unit said, that the reconstruction of the remaining 10 percent of the human settlements will be completed soon. He also added that Sindhupalchowk is doing best in reconstructing human settlements among 14 other earthquake hit districts in Nepal.
Some of the landless and displaced victims of the earthquake have been unable to carry out reconstruction activities in the district. There are currently 1,281 families identified under this category.
According to the latest data from the DPIU, more than 4,000 houses have been reconstructed in the past six months even in the face of COVID-19 pandemic in the district.
As per the census conducted in 2011, there were 68,000 houses in Sindhupalchowk. The number has now risen to 81,000.
