According to DPHO, currently there are around 130 dengue infected patients across the district. However, more dengue cases have been reported in recent months.
Concerned over the situation, Ganesh Kharel, a local, said dengue has affected every household in the district. “Dengue is spreading like wildfire in the district,” said Kharel. “With the increase dengue cases, the number of patients travelling to India for treatment has doubled this year,” added Kharel.
Talking to Republica, Vector Control officer at DPHO Bed Prasad Ghimire said only patients who have been admitted to hospitals have been recorded. “The actual number of patients could be much higher,” said Ghimire.
The latest report of DPHO states that 54 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals and clinics in Mechinagar and 44 in Damak in the last one month. “The disease is spreading like an epidemic,” said Ghimire.
