A month-long festival, Gunla Parva has started from Friday. Mainly celebrated by the Buddhists of the Newari community, the festival starts two days after Gathemangal every year.
The tradition of Music: Gunla Parva
During the festival, the devotees go around different temples and shrines playing traditional music instruments and singing devotional songs. Some of the instruments include Dha, Taa, Nyakhi, Bhushya, Chuchya, and flute.
Mainly, Shakya and Bajracharya people play the instrument in the festival and go to bihars and chaityas during Gunla Parva. Aside from them, this festival is also celebrated by Kansakar, Prajapati and Manadhar castes. However, they have separate ways of celebrating, on which they play instruments and tour the shrines of their own community.
