KATHMANDU, June 28: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced that the monsoon will become more active starting today.

In a special weather bulletin released on Thursday evening, the MFD advised the public to be prepared and take necessary precautions as rainfall is expected to increase.

According to the MFD, the monsoon will intensify in Nepal over the next few days due to the full development of the low-pressure line, which will be situated north of Nepal.

Pratibha Manandhar, a meteorologist at the MFD, stated that the weather will change across the country from Friday, with light to moderate rains expected, and heavy rains possible in some areas.

From today until June 30, there is a chance of light to moderate rain in many parts of the country due to the influence of monsoon air.

Heavy rain with thunder and lightning is possible in some areas of Gandaki Province, several places in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and one or two places in Madhesh and Karnali Provinces.

The bulletin also mentions the possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces.

MFD officials have urged vigilance due to the risks of thunder/lightning, heavy rain, soil erosion, landslides, flooding in urban and lowland areas, rising water levels in rivers and streams, and potential disruptions to daily life, road, and air traffic from today through Sunday.
