Money transfer operator robbed of Rs 2.56 m in broad daylight

SIRAHA, Aug 9:  An unidentified armed gang has robbed a money transfer operator of Rs 2.56 million in a broad daylight at Mirchaiya Municipality-3, Raghopur on Thursday afternoon.

Rajaram Sah, who operates Rajaram Money Transfer at Kalyanpur Bazaar, was returning home by withdrawing the money from Global IME Bank based in Mirchaiya.

Two motorcycle-borne armed gang had intercepted Sah near Raghopur and looted him at a gun point, said DSP of Area Police Office, DSP Dipendra Sah.

According to DSP Sah, the robbers fled away in the Dhanusha direction.

The incident site lies three kilometers south of Mirchaiya from Mirchaiya Bazaar.

Police said they have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.

The businessmen have been terrorized following the incident. Another money transfer operator was robbed of Rs 1.1 million from the same area two months ago. Police are still clueless about those involved in the robbery.
