KATHMANDU, July 7: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Chiranjibi Nepal has said that the upcoming Monetary Policy 2015/16 will be 'small farmer-friendly'.
Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of 14th anniversary of Sana Kisan Bikas Bank Ltd (SKBBL) in the capital on Tuesday, Governor Nepal said that the central bank will bring the new monetary policy will provide relief to the small farmers of 14 quake-hit districts.

He also said that the central bank will bring policy that encourages cooperatives run by small farmers to boost production. Governor Nepal said small farmers' cooperatives can play role to reduce rural poverty. He also lauded the roles of SKBBL in poverty reduction by providing financial services to small farmers.
"While there are reports of massive frauds in cooperatives, such malpractices have not been in the small farmers' cooperatives promoted by the SKKBL," Governor Nepal said. "If programs to boost production of small farmers are launched, it will control inflation and there will be no dearth of food," he added.Similarly, Israeli ambassador to Nepal Yaron Mayer said that the Israel government has helped small farmers of Nepal in transmitting education and skills to boost agro-production by adopting modern technology. "We are ready to offer additional support to the small farmers affected by the earthquake," he added.
