Monetary assistance for school reconstruction

BABIYACHAUR (MYAGDI), April 17: People from the district residing overseas have provided Rs 250 thousand for reconstruction of a fire-damaged school building.


The classroom block of the Balmandir Primary School at Dandakhet, Beni Municipality-4 was gutted by fire on March 8.

The assistance for the school was collected at the initiatives of Suman Baniya, a former student who passed out from the same school. Baniya himself contributed Rs 50 thousand to the school.


Suman's father, Krishna Bahadur Baniya, on Sunday handed over the amount to the school management committee chairperson Prem Baniya.


Similarly, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) vice-president Pramod Kumar Shrestha has announced Rs 100 thousand support to the school for the reconstruction of the school building.


The 10-room school block was destroyed by the fire causing damage worth Rs 9.2 million. So far over Rs 1.5 million monetary assistance has been received for reconstruction, it is stated.


Classes are currently run from temporary classrooms. The school has 174 students. RSS
