Modi talks with top leaders over telephone

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked with top leaders three the parties over telephone on Thursday evening. Following the result of the elections of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly, Indian PM held telephone conversation with the leaders.

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked with top leaders three major parties over telephone on Thursday evening. Following the result of the elections of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly, Indian PM held telephone conversation with the leaders.


Indian PM Modi called CPN-UML chairperson KP Sharma Oli at around 5 pm followed by Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The telephone conversation has been taken as important as Nepal is waiting for a new government after the majority of the left alliance.

“Prime Minister Modi is having telephonic conversation with Oli, Deuba and Dahal during this press meet”, said spokesperson Ravesh Kumar of Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) during weekly press meet in Delhi. He added “The topic of the conversation will be brief late on.”


This is the second response from India after the election. Earlier, the MEA had issued a press statement immediately after the election citing that Indian government is eager to work with the new government in Nepal.
