PARBAT, Jan 3: Modi Rural Municipality of Parbat district has launched 'one home, one tap' program for more than 300 households of wards 6 and 8.

On Wednesday, lawmaker Padam Giri laid the foundation stone for the project. Residents of these settlements have been struggling due to shortage of drinking water since a long time. So, this program has offered a huge respite to the villagers. Drinking Water and Sanitation Office (DWSO), Baglung has taken initiative for launching this project.

Prem Prasad Dotel, chief of DWSO, informed that a total budget of Rs 5 million has been allocated for the project in the current fiscal year. The government will invest 80% in the project while the locals will have to contribute 20% of the total cost.

Engineer Sangita Baral of DWSO says that the project will cost more than Rs 26 million. "We have estimated a total cost of Rs 26 million as of now. But this might increase with the addition of houses," said Baral.

Lawmaker Giri stated that the province is making efforts to ensure drinking water facility for all.
