Bilam Lal Shrestha beat India´s unrated Nishit Mohanty. Vagawati Prasad Sharma downed Subhashree Pridarshan. Niraj Niraula defeated unrated Shrinath Bhai. Sujendra Prasad Shrestha, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha and Prem Krishna Maharjan got a point each without playing the game after their opponent did not participate in the match.
Olympian Balaram Napit, Gyanendra Prasad Shrestha, Mani Raj Dangi, Umesh KC and Indra Kumar Basnet suffered losses in the first round match.
