KATHMANDU, Dec 16: The prejudgment round of Miss Teen Nepal, including the question and answer session, took place at the Dwarika’s Hotel, Battis Putali, on December 15.

The 18 Miss Teen participants were judged by five judges from different walks of life.[break]

The chief judge of the program was the past president of Jaycees, JCI Sen Birendra Bahadur Shrestha. Rounding up the judges’ panel were Anil Shah, Prakash Sayami, Sahana Bajracharya, and Dhama Lama who judged the participants on the basis of their personality and intelligence.

Pushpa Ratna Shakya, chairperson of the program and one of the board members of Kathmandu Jaycees, said, “This is the ninth time that Kathmandu Jaycees has been organizing the Miss Teen pageant. This event provides a great platform for the contestants to show their talents, get exposure and gain experience.”

Zenisha Moktan and Kunchang Moktan, who both participated in the Miss Teen Nepal in 2006, are the choreographers of the program. Zenisha Moktan, Miss Nepal 2009, shared, “I’ve participated in seven beauty pageants so far, and it felt good sharing my past experiences with this year’s contestants.”

She further expressed that this was the first time that she worked as a full trainer. “Kunchang and I basically groomed the participants. We focused on developing their overall personality and helped them realize their real self.”

Talking about the question and answer session, she commented, “Prejudging rounds take place only in Miss Nepal and Miss Teen contests. It provides the judges to know the contestants better.” She believes such rounds help contestants to build rapport with judges.

Sahana Bajracharya, second runner-up of Miss Nepal 2009 and one of the judges, said, “I judged the participants on the basis of their personality and also on how natural and comfortable they are in their skin.”

Dhama Lama, mediaperson and another judge shared, “I judged the contestants on the basis of their overall personality and intelligence. Personality matters, for that’s what creates the first impression.”

The talent round of the program and the final event will take place today December 16 at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi,  from 3 pm onwards.
