At a discussion held among the Ministry, student organizations, Private and Boarding Schools' Organization of Nepal (PABSON), and N-PABSON today, Ministry Spokesperson Hari Lamsal said the demands raised by the students would be addressed based on the agreement.As per the agreement, the Ministry is to provide fifty percent discount on tuition fee to the students from the earthquake-hit districts, and strictly monitor whether the private schools have returned the fee taken for a month before the earthquake, to the guardians.
The organizations of the university students have been demanding the private schools to waive monthly fee in view of the disruption of the teaching by the earthquakes.
According to Ministry Spokesperson Lamsal, the Ministry will begin monitoring whether the schools have returned half of the fee they took before the quake.
Chairman of the N-PABSON Karna Bahadur Shahi said it was normal that the school violating rules are published.
Chairman of Nepal Students' Union and Constituent Assembly member Ranjit Karna said the private schools were not abiding by the directive of the Education Ministry, so they must be brought to book.
Similarly, Chairman of All Nepal Free Students' Union, Kishor Bikram Malla, warned that they would begin agitation if the demands were not met within a week. RSS
