KATHMANDU, August 25: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) ran a dozer on the illegal structure of Alphabeta building in New Baneshwor on Thursday.
The metropolis demolished the structure of Alphabeta as it was operating a shop illegally on the ground floor.
Bharatpur Metropolis to remove illegal structures
In the morning, Mayor Balen Shah and representatives of Alphabeta had a heated argument over the design and the use of the ground floor. Mayor Shah had asked the owner of the building for a map and design of the building, but he replied that it was with the metropolis office. Mayor Balen seemed angered by this remark.
Mayor Balen Shah reached there for a second time with a dozer to demolish the structure along with the design of the building.
KMC has been demolishing illegally constructed structures in various locations of Kathmandu since Wednesday. It had issued a notice to building owners 35 days ago to vacate the areas if any illegal structures were built in the parking areas contrary to the design of the buildings.
On Wednesday, the metropolis demolished the structures built in front of Kathmandu Mall, RB Complex, Bira Complex etc. Similarly, they have given instructions to demolish illegal structures in various other places as well.
