KATHMANDU, Jan 1: A slight rise in the day-time temperature today brought respite to the Kathmanduites and people in the other mountainous rim, thanks to the Westerly Wind's influence although the sky remained partly cloudy, according to the Meteorological authority.

Although the morning was chilly as the sun did not shine bright during the morning today, it was warm towards the afternoon, shared Shanti Kandel, meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 4.1 degrees Celsius, added Kandel.

"In the last of December, the mercury was steadily dipping but due to the effects of Westerly Wind, it is relatively warm today," informed Kandel.

Mercury plummeted to winter lowest in the Kathmandu Valley on December 24, 2015.

Meteorologist Kandel told RSS that a place or two in mountainous rim is likely to receive rain towards the end of the day and snowfall in high hilly areas is expected due to the change in the temperature.

The temperature is expected to remain steady for next two days, according to the Department RSS
