Melamchi tunnel work begins

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: A vehicle belonging to Melamchi Drinking Water Project was vandalized by a group of people from Sindhupalchwok in Bauddha on Monday.



The group was protesting the construction of the Melamchi-Sundarijal tunnel starting from Sundarial. The group also tried to set the vehicle (Ba 1 Jha 6603) ablaze.







Demonstration was carried out in Bauddha while Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was on his way to Sundarijal to lay the foundation stone for the tunnel construction.



Police arrested two persons who allegedly vandalized the vehicle.
