KATHMANDU, March 31: The first batch of essential medical supplies donated by Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation arrived in Kathmandu recently.
On the behalf of Nepal government, Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, took receipt of the supplies to distribute them throughout the country while Lino Ahlering, Managing Director for Daraz in Nepal attended the ceremony on the behalf of two foundations.

The ceremony was also witnessed by Hou Yanqi, Ambassador of China.
These two foundations have distributed the essential medical supplies to 23 Asian Nation totaling 7.4 million protective masks, 485,000 test kits, 100,000 sets of protective clothing and others.
"We hope this donation will help Nepal contain the spread of COVID-19. We are making our best effort to support the global community. It is not easy to source and transport medical supplies to where it is needed the most, but we are working hard to get it done,” said the Jack Ma Foundation.
These donations are among a number of aid supports from the Alibaba Foundation and the Jack Ma Foundation to support the areas of the world affected by the COVID-19 crisis, sourcing and delivering various types of medical supplies to countries across Asia, North America, Latin America, Europe, and Africa.
These two foundations are looking forward to announcing more initiatives and donations in the coming days and weeks as well, read a press release.
