BIRGUNJ, April 15: Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal’s son, Prakash, has complained that the media is targeting him. Prakash, who arrived in Birgunj with the PM to attend a program organized by the Unified Maoists, asked the mediapersons to view him as someone who is more than just the son of the PM.[break]

“The media has victimized me by viewing me as only the PM’s son,” Prakash said, adding,” Due to this negative thinking, my personal freedom has been taken away.” He clarified what he meant, saying that he was also a member of the Unified Maoist’s state-committee and the personal secretary to the PM. He further said that he was extremely saddened by his picture’s appearing in one of the dailies in the country and by the comments that were made regarding his recent international visits.

He even labeled the making of such comments the products of a conspiracy hatched by national and international forces. “Some national and international forces are working to stop the growing influence of our party,” he said, adding, “Those groups try to turn everything into propaganda.”

Then, in contradiction to the statements that his would make later, Prakash said that the PM’s comment made regarding the media few days ago was “true.” He said it was true that smugglers had invested in the media and that therefore his father’s comment had been correct. The PM, while addressing the press conference after the end of the same program in Birgunj, on the other hand, said that his comment had been misinterpreted by the media

Prakash also denied living a lavish life, as had been reported in the media. Responding to a query about whether the watch on his wrist was worth 6 lakhs, he jokingly said, “If you give me Rs 3,000, I will give it to you right now.”
