SINDHULI, Sept 5: Disappointed with the sluggish pace of work, the locals of Sindhuli have started questioning the accomplishments of the newly elected people's representatives as they completed 100 days in office without delivering their promises made during election campaigns.

Voters across the country had high hopes from the recent elections held after almost 20 years.
The enthusiastic people had great expectations from the polls for a better livelihood. But it didn't take much time for them to realize that all the work plans that the elected representatives promised during the election campaigns were designed just for winning the elections.

Many of the voters had expected to get the facilities of Singha Durbar in all villages within a few months. However, that still seems like a distant dream.

Khadga Bahadur Khatri, mayor of Kamalamai Municipality in Sindhuli, publicized a report reviewing his 100 days in office, in order to assure the people that they have elected the right person.

The statement released on the 109th day of his appointment was an evaluation and summary of the mayor's work so far.  As per the report, Mayor Khatri highlighted his 16 important achievements during his 100 days in office.

The mayor has highlighted various works such as cleaning up of sewerage in major market places, beautification of Kamalamai Municipality initiating gardening, afforestation in army area of Ward-6 among others as his accomplishments.

After his appointment, Kamalamai Municipality has been declared as Open Defecation Free Zone. Besides that, the mayor has sanctioned a separate budget of Rs 20 million for the protection and conservation of the historical Bijay Killa (fort) of Sindhuligadhi.   He has also formed a committee to help the earthquake victims with the mapping of their new houses. He also provided the landslide victims with some relief. All these have been listed as his major achievements.
He is also planning to make the city plastic-free. However, locals say the works mentioned in the statement cannot be recorded as important accomplishments.

"None of the works mentioned in the report are remarkable," said a local, adding," We have not elected him just for this. We had much more expectations from him."

Before the elections, Khatri had assured to eliminate load shedding from the city. However, he has taken no steps in this regard.
"These kinds of minor works were conducted even when there was no mayor," he added. Some of the locals have even started regretting their decision to vote for him.
