Marijuana found in parcels sent from US to Pokhara and Birgunj

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Marijuana has been discovered in a parcel sent from the US via the postal service.


The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Nepal Police has said that marijuana was found in the parcel sent from America through the General Post Office, Dillibazar.

Superintendent of Police Chakra Raj Joshi said that 900 grams of marijuana was found in the parcel sent from America to the District Post Office, Birgunj through the General Post Office, Dillibazar on September 5.


According to police, two individuals, Dallu Ram, 32, and Habib Mia, 43, of Birgunj Metropolitan City-16 who had come to collect the parcel were arrested.


Likewise, on September 10, a parcel from America sent to the District Post Office in Pokhara through the General Post Office in Dillibazar was found to contain 1.400 kg of marijuana. A 24-year-old Indian citizen who came to pick up the parcel was arrested.


Police also found marijuana in a carton sent from General Post Office, Kathmandu to Dadeldhura. Renuka Tamang, 39 of Ganyapadhura Village Palkia-1 of Dadeldhura, who came to collect the marijuana, was arrested.
