KATHMANDU, Dec 9: The UCPN (Maoist) has objected to the recent price hike of petroleum products by Nepal Oil Corporation.

“We strongly demand that the government roll back its decision to hike the price of petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG gas,” said a statement issued by Maoist Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma on Thursday. [break]

Sharma warned of strident protest if the decision is not withdrawn.

The Maoist party has also expressed concern over the multiple effect it will have on the prices of consumers´ goods, making the lives of the ordinary people difficult.

Sharma stated that the government had taken a wrong wrong decision and that it should instead have taken measures to control corruption and leakage.
