Maoists vandalize 6 vehicles in Chitwan, 4 in Butwal

CHITWAN, June 11: UCPN-Maoist cadres vandalized six vehicles on Thursday morning as Chitwan saw mild effects of the strike called by the party in protest of the President´s decision.



Maoist cadres played football on the street between Shahid Chowk and Pulchwok from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, chanting slogans against the President.



The cadres vandalized four vehicles, including a motorbike, near Narayani Bridge at Gaidakot, and two vehicles, including a truck, at Narayangarh.



Parasi of Nawalparasi also felt only mild effect of the strike, however Maoists have disrupted vehicular movement on the East-West Highway.



Meanwhile, the Maoist-affiliated Madhesi Mukti Morcha vandalized four vehicles in Butwal for defying Thursday’s banda.



Maoist cadres vandalized a bus, a minibus, and two trucks, said Area Police Office, Butwal.



Likewise, agitators burnt copies of Kantipur daily at Buddha Chowk of Bhairahawa on Thursday morning when Kantipur Publications’ vehicle was heading for Bhairahawa from Chitwan. They, however, could not vandalize the jeep as police were present at the incident site.
