POKHARA, May 11: The All Nepal Industrial Workers’ Organization (ANIWO) affiliated to the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has still not vacated the building belonging to Pokhara Industrial Area Management Limited (PIAML) that it occupied five years ago.

The Maoist workers have refused to vacate the building despite repeated requests from PIAML officials.

“They have ignored repeated requests,” said Raj Kumar Mandal, acting manager of PIAML. “They say they haven’t vacated bigger building, and vacating this small building is out of the question.”

The ANIWO workers organize regular meetings in the occupied building. They have also not returned eight furniture articles that remain in the building, according to Mandal. The ANIWO is running the office of its Kaski chapter from the building.

The ANIWO workers claim they have been using the building after receiving verbal consent from PIAML. They also said that they would not vacate the building unless industrialists who are living permanently in the Industrial area leave the place.
