Maoists shut Birgunj

BIRGUNJ, Jan 13: Maoist cadres staged demonstrations and shut bazaar in Birgunj Wednesday to protest the killing of Maoists’ Bhojpura State Committee member and Constituency No 2 secretary Rajesh Mandal by an unidentified gang yesterday.



Mandal was shot dead by the gang at Nitanpur Chowk along Birgunj-Pathlaiya road at around 8:15pm. Irate Maoist cadres blocked roads and demanded arrest and punishment for the killers.



Educational institutions in Birgunj have also been closed.
