The Maoists seized land belonging to freed Kamaiyas and squatters in Kotatulasipur, Baliya and Chuha VDCs where they had already stated rice plantation.
The Maoists on their part have said that they did not confiscate any land rather they only secured the land confiscated earlier.
According to the Kailali District Administration Office, the All Nepal National Peasants´ Association led by Shiva Koirala, Magar Rastriya Mukti Morcha led by Nabin Punmagar and All Nepal National Squatters´ Association led by Hira Prasad Devkota captured the land belonging to eight families on June 22.
On the same date, the Maoists seized 37 bighas of land belonging to Bishwanath Upreti of Chuha VDC 6. Similarly, Maoists captures three bigahs of land belonging to Saroj Aryal of Baliya VDC-2, two bigahs of Makhan Shrestha of Baliya VDC-5, and two bigahs of Shankharman Bohara of Chuha VDC-6.
The DAO also said that the Maoists confiscated 10 katthas of land from Khemraj Pandey, Prem Dhungana and Rangaraj Pandey in Chuha VDC-6.
Similarly, the Maoists captured 36 bigahs of land belonging to the family of Dev Bahadur Malla of Kotatulasipur VDC-4.
The secretary of the War Victims´ and Farmers´ Welfare Society Ganesh Bahadur Malla said the Maoists have confiscated more land than the one recorded at the DAO.
“We 11 brothers together had 36 bigahs of land but the Maoists have now placed a flag and taken it away,” Chakra Bahadur Malla, Dev´s brother said.
The 36 bigahs of land of the Malla brothers was returned some two years ago, but the Maoists re-captured after they quit the government.
Member of Maoists´ Tharuwan Rajya Samiti Rakesh Dhami claimed that there has been no new seizure of land.
