Maoists seeking politics of confrontation: Deuba

ITAHARI, Nov 30: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba alleged the Unified CPN (Maoist) of seeking the politics of confrontation by threatening a movement of declaring autonomous states.[break]



Addressing a press conference organized by Nepal Press Union, Sunsari chapter on Tuesday, Deuba said the Maoists´ move of declaring autonomous states is objectionable to the rest of the political parties.



He said it is the gimmick of the Maoist to confuse the general public which will invite political instability.



He termed the Maoists´ move of declaring autonomous states as political dishonesty.



Regarding the talks between the Nepali Congress president and chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) in Singapore, Deuba said the reality was not as what has been publicized by the media.



He claimed that during the said talks, the Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala only talked about constitution of the high-level political mechanism.



Stating the topic of changing the Prime Minister and the President is simply inconceivable, Deuba said criticizing the media of disseminating the wrong message in the political circle by exaggerating the topic.



Replying a question as to how the present political instability could be removed, Deuba said the way out could be found through consensus and collaboration among the political parties.
