KATHMANDU, July 13: UCPN (Maoist) on Tuesday asked leaders from Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML to spell out their basic views on issues related to integration of Maoist combatants and the overall peace process.

Deputy parliamentary party (PP) leader Narayankaji Shrestha said that they urged NC PP leader Ram Chandra Poudel and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal to come up with official proposals.

“We made the request as they disagreed with the proposal recently put forth by our party on army integration and peace process but didn´t categorically say what they actually want,” Shrestha told reporters at the Maoist PP office in Singha Durbar.

He said NC and UML must come up with a flexible proposal if they really want consensus in the country. “We took this initiative because consensus is a must to successfully accomplish the tasks of the constitution-writing and the peace process,” he said.
